I'm sorry to read about this, but glad you recognise that maybe this friendship wasn't meant to last.
I would say go to college and work with an open mind to who you might meet. If you're willing to have small talk with people on your first day even when it probably will be quite awkward then perhaps you'll find someone that you get along with and make new friends! Even if your colleagues and peers may not be the type of people you previously would choose to talk to, you have nothing to lose with just being pleasant and may find new friends or at least people that you can sit and chat with at college/work (even if you aren't particularly friends outside of college/work) . Its most likely a new step for everyone on your course at college and its likely that most people will be coming in alone and slightly nervous so just by chatting to people about the course might lead to friendships. If you'd like to chat more, feel free to PM me. I've just finished my first year at uni where I started knowing absolutely nobody so I have slight experience of starting something with noone you know!
