The problem with quality depth is that unless you're willing to pay big wages and/or have big pulling power e.g. Manchester City at the moment with Pep, there's no reason why a good player will join you on transfer when they know they definitely won't be starting ahead of Eriksen outside of cup games since he's better and Poch won't want to risk losing games in a title race.
Madrid had this problem too. Their team in 16/17 was stacked to the brim and they had to sell rodriguez, Morata, danilo and Pepe. Heck a guy like Mariano who is banging goals for lyon couldn't get a start.

I think City are lucky that they have a mixture of experience and youth. So you can tell Bernardo Silva that he's a long term David Silva replacement, so with adequate rotation they'd stay happy knowing they'd be first choice.

Spurs best bet is getting someone young with the ability to improve. No idea who though. Feel like the young players get snapped up quicker now. Back in 2012 you could get a 21 year old hazard, now you get an 18 year old Mbappe and a 19 year old martial snapped up after one good season.

September is brutal for us.

Leicester (A)
Spurs (A)
Southampton (H)
Chelsea (A)

For reference, City’s fixtures during the same period are:

Newcastle (H)
Fulham (H)
Cardiff (A)
Brighton (H)

Let’s be real, they aren’t dropping any points there.

However if we’re real about challenging for the title, we need to be swatting aside Leicester and Soton, and winning against one of Chelsea or Spurs.

It isn’t meant to be easy...

First October game is City for you at Anfield. Will make things very interesting if you remain unbeaten in these 4 September fixtures and then beat City.

Group with Napoli and PSG. Well we definitely won't be deprived of attacking football at least and I do think it's winnable.

Think you've got enough to finish above Napoli at the very least.

Hoping that Chelsea poaching Sarri and Jorginho from them will have weakened them somewhat.

That’s the kind of fixture list that tests a truly great team.

Let’s see what we’re made of...

Well that all suddenly looks a little more brutal!

What has surprised me is that Klopp basically hasn't rotated his starting XI in 3 games already. Yes he's made a lot of use of his subs but last season he was rotating lots.

Is there any need to rotate playing one game a week? Around this time last season we had midweek games for the CL qualifying games but not anymore. Players still look a bit rusty and Klopp did mentioned that players are not fully fit so rotating won't help with that. When CL games start coming along we will of course see Klopp go full rotate mode.

Cohesion and that jazz. If you wanna see what happens when you rotate heavily look at united.

I always believe start of the season you should be making minimal changes to the xi. Then from mid September onwards start the rotation, by Xmas you should have rotation in full flow so people know where they stand.
