We were always better chasing - even in games we’re much better as the underdog.

Results have been frustrating lately however people are acting like we’re having an awful season. We’re literally one point behind City and in any other year we’d be miles clear.

Less than a week ago we battered Watford 5-0, yet people are quick to forget and start panicking because we got a point from our local derby...

It’s nothing to do with a single game. It’s a continuous pattern of performance that we appear rooted in, that has been in place for a number of weeks.

Whilst not winning the league wouldn’t be a bottle, the manner we are going about it could possible be construed as one.

No point in panicking from this or the United derby result, agreed. Problem is this comes as part of a run of draws and struggles in the final third, where we've dropped far too many points since the turn of the year.

Not over yet though, and regardless we've had an incredible season so far with a squad that has come on so far in just a year.

except last year or the year before

You were seven points clear at Xmas, now you are trailing. I’d be panicking...
Slippy G would be proud of this bottle
Strange how the team has gone from gung-ho shoot from the hip style of football to this overly pragmatic style. I originally though it was just brilliant management from Klopp to realise he needed to team to be able to tighten things up when needed if Liverpool were be more than stylistically successful, but as the season is going on its becoming apparent this team doesn't have that Jeykll and Hyde nature. Last season the team was incapable of tightening this up when you needed to grind, but the trade off for that grit seems to be, you can't just turn it back on when needed.

Man City have been and are the better team, but the reality is you had the points on the board. I though that 6 point gap would be manageable, and resigned myself to finally having to see Liverpool win the title. I think you might have blown it tbh. City have United, Spurs and Watford, they don't play anyone else in the top half of the table.

You must be joking.... If you don't win it you've bottled it BIG TIME. How can you go from being 10 points clear at the top and now you're behind...

I personally think this season is Liverpool's big chance.

Depending on how well United buy in the summer they look like they can be a real force to challenge City and they have the mental clout in those head to head games. A striker, defensive leader and one more supporting cm (ie what Fred was supposed to be) and they will be ready, easy buys for United's resources and the fact they can offload a few deadwood.
bottle bottle bottle
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's 0-0 draw vs. Everton: "Very difficult game for different reasons. I know people don't like it when I say it, but the wind came from all different directions, the ball was in the air a lot."

He's worse than Mourinho ffs.

We've heard this every summer for the last 5 years and it never happens. Our board only care about qualifying for the Champions League and making money. We will NEVER challenge for the title under our current structure.

As for this season's title, it just feels like City have it in the bag now. Spurs at home aren't a threat and we will 100% be rolling over in the derby if a defeat puts Liverpool in pole position. We will not help them to win the league.

We were never 10 points clear, City had a game in hand so the gap was really 7 points when City won their game in hand. 7 points gap isn't a big lead when there is a half a season to go. Ferguson's United lost a 8 point lead with 5 games to go to lose the title to City.

Still a bottle but it was never going to be plain sailing against this City side who broke records last season.

You've made highly commercial transfers for huge money/wages. Sanchez, Pogba. It's assured that you will buy players that can sell shirts. The problem is that your scouting team is not great. Fred, Matic and Sanchez were bad signings, it was obvious to Arsenal fans for example that Sanchez had lost that yard of pace.

For what you spend on the likes of those players for big fees, if you had a better scout network you could have bought younger and better players alongside the marquee signings. Like a Chelsea sort of model even.

I think for the commercial model it's assured that you will sign a marquee player like say a Bale. Whether it's the right decision for the pitch is questionable.

Think it's unfair to class Pogba as commercial. Too expensive yes, but hes our best outfield player by a mile.

Our scouting was 20 years out of date when Ferguson left, something every subsequent manager has pointed out, and even now we've made improvements but it's still incredibly poor. We're never going to sign a Robertson or a Guendouzi, but one thing that is certain is that we will do far more business this summer if we don't qualify for the CL. It's embarassing seeing Liverpool & Man City fighting it out for the title again whilst we're nowhere to be seen.

Its not surprising when you have business guys in charge instead of football ones. Big reason why Bayern and Juve have been so successful in terms of results and recruitment. The guys behind the scenes understand football. They'll spot a talent and get him for free/cheap. United will spot the same talent, wait and then buy him for £50mill.

Sancho/Pepe are probably the better fit for our RW but you can bet money Woodward will be all over Bale/Dybala.

What pisses me off is that back in 2012 Chelsea did them juventus type business. De Bruyne, courtois, Lukaku, azpilicueta, Oscar etc.

We then just completely changed our business model.

Nah pogba is commerical but also chosen for footballing reasons, great potential at the time he signed. At a young age he had already been to a CL final and been the main midfield man. More and more you are seeing him realise the potential.
Stop derailing our sulking/desperate attempts at optimism 😭
