Clubs/Bars/Dive&Ikon/Toffs = DRESS CODE?

Been re-reading all that stuff York sent us about the various events.

Just wondered if any current York student could say what the Dress codes are like? Are they strict? Where I live, Pubs and Clubs are totally strict on what you wear!

So what's the dress code for Boys + Girls? @Dive&Ikon? @Toffs? @the various college bars?

Jeans? Trainers? Dresses? Skirts? Crop Tops? Bikini Tops? Shorts? etc...

Also do a few of the colleges (like Vanbrugh) have like a 'club' thing instead of a Bar? I read something about a thing called 'V' @ Vanburgh

1) The Clubs are not at all strict and i seem to remember dont even mind trainers although that is only on Student nights.

2) Campus Bars dont care as long as you pay for drinks!

3) All Bars are bars but every fornight there is a Planet V at Vanbrugh and a Club D at Derwent which both have a late license and use the bar, jcr and dining hall in each college.

I asked the same question on yorkstudentsfirst.co.uk. Here are the results;

Doesn't really answer the question, but hey. All I want to know is, which clubs allow jeans and which don't? I never wear trainers in clubs anyway, so it's not a problem. I just want to avoid huge embarrasment, especially on the first night, since everyone in Goodricke are going on a crawl around the 'Heslington Bars'.

Which ones are they likely to take us round anyway?

AFAIK all clubs allow jeans, they are not at all strict on Students nights. There are only 2 heslington bars so theres not much choice! The charles is better IMO but i havent been to the other since a friend of mine works in the charles. The derry is meant to be ok but less of a student pub.

You have to try pretty hard to be refused entry to a York club, pretty much anthing goes as far as dress code...

hehe ah im soo glad york is relaxed about this kind of thing. people dont really dress up here unless they are major 'townie-16-year-olds-trying-to-look-older' people, even at our biggest club i where black trainers with jeans. not that i look skanky or anything, its just high heels kill!

totally agree there bout heels. if i want an ace night heels don't come into the equation. i'm looking forward to the casual attitude at york, near me jeans in clubs is a no-no. but u can get gorgeously cool jeans these days that would be ace for clubbing!! not that i actually own any myself, but if i was rich i would have lots and lots and lots.happy thoughts. :biggrin:
