So I applied for a job and got it... and now I'm becoming quite anxious as of late.
Thing is, I can be social, but it's a little hard for me to befriend people in real life and exist in a group comfortably lol. Whenever I want to start a conversation, I just can't think of any questions I could ask or any topics I could bring up. And it is vital that I make connections in this position.
Does anybody have any advice how to approach a group of people, any topics I could bring up, what to expect, how to keep the conversation flowing??

Hi congratulations on your job! Can I ask what your new position is, and does it involve you talking to your colleagues on a daily basis? Do you get time to socialise outside of work?

Who do you need to make coneections with ? Clients/customers or colleagues/other ? If it's with clients / customers - it will all depend on the situation, but in general with clients learn your business and learn their business, take a genuine interrest in them their wellbeing and their business. Put on a friendly face and be compassionate with them - sometimes all they want is a friendly ear to listen to their woes/achievements.

With customers ie if you work in a shop - again be genuine but be nice also, asking them how they are, perhaps ask them if they are interrested in certain offers you have up in the shop? and always finish off with a sincere but friendly bye like (enjoy the rest of your day sir/mam) etc.

With colleagues just chat about antyhing at all just keep it clean though, and never discuss negatively any of your customers/clients the last thing you want is for anything like that to get back to any of them.

It's a little difficult to describe, but I'll be working in a school, so socialising with colleagues is a must. Socializing outside work is not so much a problem, but yes, I do get to socialise somewhat. Mainly I'm interested in creating strong bonds in the workplace environment.
