Introduction

Hello everyone , welcome to my GYG Thread. I'll use this thread to give updates of my A Levels, Olympiads, Competitions, Work Experience, BMAT practise, extra and super-curricular activities and more! Feel free to share revision tips, resources and anything that is in your mind .

GCSE Results:

Just a little background information:
I came to the UK (England, London) in 2013, I spoke virtually no English at all (Level 1b). From Year 7 to the end of Year 8 I worked on my English, at the end my English was a Level 5a. I moved to Wales, schools were full so I didn't do year 9 and I was at home doing nothing. I spent all year 10 catching up and at the beginning of Year 11 I was ready. My school has a 48% A*-C rate, it is a low-performing school.

Here's what I achieved in my GCSEs. P.s. All my exams are WJEC except Portuguese (OCR).

Portuguese: A*
Spanish: A*
Maths: A*
Numeracy: A
Business Studies: A
Double Award Science: AA
Religious Studies: A
Computer Science: B
English Language: B
English Literature: B
PE: B
Welsh Baccalaureate: B
Additional Maths: Merit

Sixth Form College Offers:

Accepted by my second choice.

A Levels:

Biology
Chemistry
Mathematics
Physics
Portuguese: A
Spanish: B

Olympiads, Competitions, Work Experience, BMAT, Work Experience and more...

My dream is to study Medicine.

I'm looking forward to do the following:

Olympiads in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Debating and public speaking competitions.
BMAT section 1,2 and 3 practice.
Medical work experience.
Some US Summer Schools.
Making a project, publish medical research, etc.
US Exams

I'll tag some people that may be interested.

I'll definitely keep up with this, it will be great (and very motivating for me) to follow your journey! Good luck for your results - I have similar GCSE predictions so I know the pressure - and my school is in special measures which makes it a little hard I hope to study at Cambridge but I'm not 100% on whether I'll apply. It depends which sixth form I get into.

Just out of interest, what do you think the most effective method you used to revise at GCSE was?

I think it's admirable that you managed to learn English to such a high standard so quickly and were able to catch up on a whole year's worth of content while covering the Year 10 syllabus as well.

I learn really last, I read once and I pick up most details quickly, I then do questions on the topic to work on what I found hard. I used Mathswatch in GCSE to learn most things and went from a D to a B and I worked at school and worked to get the A*.

I wish you the best of luck and hopefully we'll get the grades that we want. Let's work on those grades for Cambridge! What course do you want to do.

Unis probably won't count the two A levels you've done early - they like to see all of them taken at the same time.

Have you done any UKMT competitions already? Did you get on a Summer school?

How did you cope with doing 6 a levels? Are Portuguese or Spanish your native language(s)? Either way, you're actually the demigod of a levels
