Medicine personal statement

I'm currently in the process of writing mine and have been told that it would be a good idea to include some science in it but I'm unsure on what sort of science to include and how?

Any help would be much appreciated (as well as any other generic personal statement tips )

What do you mean "include some science"? Your personal statement shouldn't read like an academic paper. It's meant to be about you and why you want to do medicine.

Yep that’s how it is currently but we got told in school to include some science but I’m not really sure what that’s supposed to mean

Thanks for the links I’ll look over them!
I think you should try to talk about any recent medical innovations and any scientific projects you have undertaken. You can talk about how you keep update with the BMJ and other articles. You can also talk about how biology and chemistry interests u, etc.

Hi again, I can't access the bmj links as I'm not a medical student (yet) so if it wouldn't be too much trouble would you be able to outline what they say? If it's not convenient don't worry about it, the other links are so useful
What they said^^

When I applied the most 'science' I included was mentioning some medical lectures I'd been to and the rest was solely about my work experience and why I wanted to do medicine

That's reassuring as the bulk of mine is mainly just work experience too :h:

Hi there, BMJ podcasts are brilliant for keeping up with the newest medical news, and you can put that in your PS

Include all the buzzwords possible while liking them to your volunteering, work experience and academics. Look up the ones your universities want on their websites

Include paragraphs to make your PS easier to read. Admissions want it to be non-cliché, easy to read and they'll pick out the buzzwords.

Try to include everything you've done (work experience, EPQ, extracurricular) It's really hard but use short words and do loads of drafts.

I reccommend the student BMJ for the application process (only £25 a year). It has good tips, as does the medic portal.

If you private message me your email, I can send you mine. (I applied this year and got 4 offers)

Good luck )
