Gcse exam results confusion

does anyone else's percentage grade for their GCSE exams not match the thresholds?

for example, i got an 83% in my Science Co-ordinated Double Award, and the max points are 240, which means I got a total of 199 points if I did the maths correctly, yet it gave me an AA grade. the grade thresholds for june 2018 says that A*A* is 174 points.

this has happened to every subject of mine (english literature, german, drama, computer science and science) except english language, sociology and maths, where my percentage grade and points given match the thresholds precisely.

thresholds are here: http://www.cambridgeinternational.org/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-secondary-2/cambridge-igcse/grade-threshold-tables/june-2018/
Talk to your school exams officer - they should be able to help you and if you’re right, they can contact the exam board for you
thanks
has this happened to anyone though, or is it just how GCSE grades work? 70-79 B, 80-89 A and 90-100 A*

The % you got is a uniform percentage mark. So you wouldn't have got 199 marks as that is the actual percentage rather than UPS/UMS. See the following:

So 83% shows you were in the bottom third of those who got an A

CAIE converts the raw marks to uniform % marks with fixed boundaries, so, as others have said, and A grade is 80-89.
