Ooh, I need to see Mary Poppins Returns too  Do tell how it goes
Best of luck with the exercise :rave:
My best memory of 2018 was probably meeting up with a childhood friend :yep: idk, probably not very exciting but it's special to me, I guess
I've staggered home from parties like that too.
:woo: super glad you had a good Christmas! :hugs:
Glad you had a good Christmas! It's really messed up that someone spread a rumour that vile, I hope you find out who did it and cut them out of your life. Good luck with the exercising, I'm trying to get more exercise too (finally went back to the gym after about 2 weeks on friday  I'm determined to not waste my money)

Add me to the tag list please!
hope you had a lovely christmas matthew:hugs:
ugh i need to get back into exercise too, gym memberships are too expensive though:nah:
i hope you enjoy mary poppins! i didn't really like the first film so not planning to see the second one- they're not my cup of tea:lol:
best memory of 2018 was probably jumping off a waterfall during ncs.
Great to hear you had a good Christmas and absolutely love your thread

My best memory of 2018 is probably going on my first ever flight. I'd never flown or even set foot on an aircraft before and work gave me the chance to go so I jumped at the chance. So glad I did it!

Would love to know what you think of Mary Poppins Returns! :h:

They are! That's why I've never gotten one (that and the fact that my local leisure centre keeps threatening closure because nobody goes, which suggests to me it's awful)

You don't like Mary Poppins?! *gasp* Sorry, haha, it' just the reaction you get in my house for not liking Mary Poppins is the same as someone saying they don't like Star Wars in any situation ever.

Jumping off a waterfall...? *shudders at the thought*

Thank you!! That must have been nervewracking given everything you hear in the news about plane crashes and that if you've never been- glad you enjoyed it though.

Do you wanna be on the tag list?

Wed Jan 9 (Thu Jan 10 by the time I finish writing this, no doubt)-

I disappeared for a while; the reason for that is I kept going to write a post, realised how little work I'd done, and gave up.

I still haven't done much of any worth since the last time I wrote a post, and I didn't do much of worth between that update and the previous, either. So I clearly have a very productive life.

69% in chemistry- a C. My heart fell on the floor when I saw C on the front of the paper- until I realised that can be improved. And 70% is a B. And the level of idiot stupid answers in that paper...I could have gotten an A easily, I believe. It would have required 11% more, so 8 marks more, and I lost 3 marks for writing the things into a table the wrong bloody way around. Today, I attempted again and probably for the final time to drop maths. It would be easier to drop out of college entirely, as I learned this morning (I'm completely serious, logistically). I hate my college a little more every day. More on that later.

We are on academic week 16. Which means until AS exams, there are 13 academic weeks. Which doesn't sound like that much time. In short, aargh.

In long, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghelp. In all fairness it's a good while away still for now, and there's plenty of time for more learning and a lot of revision.

PHYSICS- Started Unit 1 on Monday with one teacher, but we're still working on photons from Unit 2 with the other teacher, which we did today. It's not exactly hard work, in all fairness. It's alright, right now. Ignoring I have a booklet of past paper questions due by Monday, about 11 or 12 of them. Where are they pulling all these questions from? They've given us OCR ones before now, which is just stupid. We've done enough questions, get on with the course, which we aren't even on track to complete with the Wednesday teacher by the time the exam comes around.

Speaking of subjects that won't get finished, we are still on Unit 1 in chemistry, and at this rate will STILL be on Unit 1 this time in February. Unit 2 also takes forever. My friends in other colleges finished U1 ages ago but I was warned by friends that I would be teaching myself parts of unit 2. Seriously now, we went faster through work at GCSE; everyone agrees about this. This would be laughable if it wasn't so concerning. Call it selfish to say but I WANT TO DO A DEGREE IN THIS SUBJECT, JONATHAN, SO I NEED TO PASS THE EXAM.

MATHS this morning...when I was there we did bivariate data and easy stats stuff like that but I spent the first half of the lesson speaking to the deputy head of 6th form at the college, getting talked at about facilitating subjects and "Everyone likes maths A-level- universities will love it. Why don't you do the sensible thing and drop music insteaaaad? Oh also you need a form, which I won't print off for you under any circumstances- I don't really think you've considered your options despite the emails to universities about entry requirements and talking to every lecture with a valid opinion on the topic and ummed and ahhed for 2 months...come back 9am on Friday morning, oh, will you be missing music for that? Ah well. Now go on, shan't keep you from doing lovely maths"

On that topic- Cardiff University, please reply. You said you would over a week ago. Thanks. (I mayyyy have emailed the wrong address though...should check that out).

I'm seeing if I can renegociate the date of my Grade 6 music theory exam to June. I don't feel prepared, and considering I'll be revising similar things for my music AS it just makes more sense. I don't actually think I've been entered. Nobody has told me, as ever and always.

Music mock coming up on Monday. Saying nothing.

A week Thursday (well, a week today now) the college has an open evening, which I have to help out with, apparently, because I qualify for this bursary, which will be compromised if I don't help out with absolutely everything. We will disregard the fact it's my nan's 70th, I will stand around in a cold corridor giving people the same spoonfed advice till 7pm.

I have one piece of good news, just the one- the girl who insisted I was cheating on my boyfriend and spread a rumour about that wants to drop out of college. Please do it.

In fact, on that note, everyone wants to drop out of college. We had a full discussion while doing the barely any assigned work there was about who wants to drop out of college the most. This is life, now.

I apolgise for updating in the middle of the night- only time I remember to do it.

Spoiler

Glad to see you again :wavey:
In a way, careless mistakes are the best and worst kind of mistakes :dontknow:
I do admit that maths is very useful for chemistry and you will have to do maths in chemistry anyway, but if you can't do it, then don't force it
Hope that girl chooses to drop out

Fri Jan 11-

Lecture cancelled this morning. Meeting with head of 6th form moved to 10:15. And all the tech and sport boys in the library making it so loud work is near impossible.

Only one thing to do then- go on TSR and procrastinate!

In fairness I knew this morning's music lecture was cancelled but wanted to come in and work on my 2nd composition- given that all compositions have to be done by 22nd February and ideally a while before that to allow time for write-ups and stuff, I need the time. Unfortunately the classroom's locked.

I want to go home.

Yesterday in chemistry, we went through the mock in too much depth and practiced the types of questions we did wrong. Then, we did recap work on mass spectrometry which we've covered already and was intended as homework but our teacher wanted us to do together in class basically so he didn't end up having to mark it. See what I mean about slow?

I am trying to revise music but like I said earlier it's too loud in here. I have tutor time later (joy of joys) followed by maths, in which I believe we are doing logs for core and Newton's Laws for mechanics (we may have more on vectors to do though).

Right then. Time to prepare for this meeting- I will be back later (maybe) to tell you how it goes.

Spoiler

good luck with the meeting, i hope it goes well and in your favour :rave:

Fri Jan 11 (2)-

Ok then so today turned interesting.

In tutor time we spoke about summer schools (I have a thing to go to on Monday about the ones in the USA which tbh I'm not really interested in, want to stay in the UK, but worth the talk I'm sure), and then discussed the Cambridge Pre-U short course. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but the Cambridge Pre-U is a qualification in global perspectives. We have to write an essay on global issues, prepare a presentation on a different global issue, then sit a critical thinking exam. It's the effective equivalent of the Welsh Bacc qualification that people at the college have to do if they don't get the top grades. On Monday we have an extra tutor time with a different tutor specialising in doing this kind of thing and by then, I have to have an essay title and my tutor wants the essays written, at least as a strong draft, by the end of next month. Ain't this gonna be fun.

In maths we had some more work on vectors to finish. It's boring but it is, at least, easy...

I'll stick with maths until AS. I very nearly threw all my toys out of the pram with the head of 6th form this morning but didn't. I agreed to keep it up, because clearly I don't have a choice. I can drop it before A2.

I can't see my grade 6 theory exam being moved. I've got 2 past papers to complete this week and I haven't even finished learning the stuff yet. It won't cost a penny to get me withdrawn from sitting it and I am quite clearly not prepared.

If you hadn't gathered, my life has become a series of things I'm forced into against my will.

My list of things I have to do is burying me. When things are like this I'm at my least productive usually, which I fully accept is bad. So I'm going to try and get as much done as I can and go to bed before 1am.

How has everyone's week been? How is work and revision going?
Annoying TSR didn't send my paragraph

I wish I could do the Pre-U GPR, it is genuinely an interesting course but unfortunately my college does provide it. Are you in an independent school? I haven't heard of many schools dealing with CIE!

By US, you mean YYGS, right? I'm also applying, well, to be honest I'm applying to all summer schools

Don't let work pile up, get it all done and you'll have peace of mind, the sooner the better, and as I like to say, every little helps.

My week was quite busy, I'm usually in the library in free periods. I have full unit 1 mocks of all subjects, this won't be fun :frown:
... Specially because I'll need a really high % (75+ which was basically full UMS in the new spec 🙄) if I want all my predicted grades to be As at AS. I have biology on Monday, here I come!
Awww :console: On the bright side, you'll have a qualification of some sort in Maths (if you're sitting the AS)
Maybe you should withdraw from that theory exam if you're really feeling unprepared  It'll just be a bit of a waste of time and effort if you sit it when you're not ready :sadnod:
Good luck with your list of things :hugs:
