When I go UCLAN

When I go UCLAN I am going to join the student union no matter what I will, I am going to join something and campaign to get UCLAN more known on the web and to generally get its reputation up!

I think espeically with first years if you can get them to come and check on the forums maybe post updates of the University on here or something to keep them intreasted then we can get a major thing going with UCLAN students and prospectives.

Just thought you should know

You're automatically a member of the SU when you start at the uni. :p:

But yeah, well done for choosing to get involved. There's plenty to get involved with.

Good luck with that...

There's a reason people laugh at UCLAN.

Your sarcasm is far too deserved, hence why I intend to get out of here as soon as I can.

You see, i'm not choosing to live in burnley, they are choosing to go to a poor university.

But if you are so adamant, what do you wish do discuss?
Thats a really unpleasant thing to say though, how can you pidgenhole everything the university does as "poor".

I could be a bigot and describe swansea as "poor" because it isnt as old and established as my university, but its just unfounded bigotry.
It's not to do with how long it's been established. It's just that UCLan is not a particularly good uni. I live pretty close to UCLan, so know a number of people who go, and they all say it's far from spectacular, but they admit they have no other option really because they messed up A levels.

You've got some very rare friends then. I've yet to meet someone here who doesn't think highly of UCLan, and I've been here 2 years.
Sounds to me like the people you hang out with are trying to show off in front of you, and probably lying in order to do so, because your unfounded and incorrect opinions are putting them down.

I go to UCLAN. Not because i think its a great uni, but because i enjoy the city and the people. Not everyone rates reputation as most important.

Most people on this forum are too far up themselves anyway, and obsessed with grades and going to a "good university"

A Degree is a degree, no matter where you get it from (no Oxbridge moaners please)

I've been offered places at "better" Universities, and went to the open days, but found some of the people there obnoxious and a lot of people thought they were better than everybody else.

UCLan is a friendly university, I know a few people who go there and they all enjoy it!

I have accepted my offer at UCLan, and can't wait to start in September =]

Can't we have one thread on here that doesn't start slagging off Uclan? Didn't we have that debate 2 weeks ago back when the admins came in and had to delete half the posts in there? I said it then and i'll say it now it doesn't matter where you get your degree from it's about the experience you have getting it.

Im with you I myself applied to some good unis with high grades and I believed I could get a place there but it wasnt the same as UCLAN it had this pull about it - you know felt right.

Its our decision not yours so please keep you own thoughts to yourself. After all if we wanted them, we would of asked and this is about the fifth time we have asked you to stop!

So please leave use alone.

Spot on. I turned down Manchester and Liverpool uni to go to UCLAN because i couldnt deal with the people at the uni itself. Enjoying myself is far more important than the reputation of my uni.

Yeah I got into Liverpool, MMU, Huddersfield, and Preston, and decided on Preston in the end, much better environment, everyone was so friendly =]

Oh its so poor it has the second largest green screen in the country, a built to purpose tv studio, with state of the art equipment, theater, edit suites, recording studios and businesses that choose to be there for the environment it boasts. Not to mention, guest lecturers from the industry and working professionals with 3rd year film students doing comissioned work for large businesses in Manchester. DVD players, flat screen LCD tvs and a pc for the lectuer in EVERY lecture room. And that would be just one area of the university.
