If I have to go into clearing for Chemistry but receive atleast an A or a B in Chemistry but C's in Biology and Psychology, will I still be accepted onto the course? The requirements are BBB. Is it worth giving them a call?

Hi MIz90,

This depends if you are currently holding an offer from Loughborough or not.

If you are a Loughborough offer holder and miss the conditions of youroffer, you will automatically be considered for a place via Clearing before the final decision is made in UCAS Track so you won't need to call on the day (if you're successful this would show in Track, and visa versa.)

If you don't yet have an offer with Loughborough and are thinking of applying via Clearing, with ABC grades and where entry reqs are showing as BBB I would definitely say it's worth calling, you've got nothing to lose and they are decent grades.

Hope this helps - good luck

Hi there,

I saw Comp Sci with a Foundation Year available yesterday and was hoping to apply to that tomorrow. Looks like it's no longer available. Are foundation years not offered on and after results day then?

Thanks

This might change again tomorrow, the best thing to do is give them a call in the morning once you have your results. I'm sure @Loughborough University will be online first thing though :h:

Hi,

The initial entry requirements for the course I was applying for were A*AA (MEng Mechanical with placement year) and now on your clearing the grades are ABB, is this a mistake or have they been lowered? Thanks

Wow! That's a pretty big difference and Loughborough are outstanding for engineering. Looks like they may have been. Is this your firm choice? How did your exams go?

I felt they went ok, they are my firm choice but I am just surprised as it's been lowered by 3 grades which either means they need more people or no one got the grades! :O

Fingers crossed! I hope it all works out and Track gives you good news tomorrow morning. Best of luck

Hi retsymuw

All available vacancies will show on the website - they update immediately when any changes are made, if there are no vacancies the course won't appear. Have you called this morning?

Hi Z3DM4N

Yes it's probable that the entry reqs have been lowered! Have you got your results yet? Let us know how you did!

Turns out my week of illness messed up my maths C3 and C4 exams, got a U and an E in them which has pretty much stopped me from getting any offers anywhere, got a D for maths because of it and was predicted an A! I had Loughborough as my firm and have tried to get onto the automotive engineering course as I am 1 grade below the requirement but haven't had much luck :frown:

I was really drawn to the uni for the sports too so I won't stop trying.

Hi Z3DM4AN

I'm sorry to hear that, that's so disappointing for you :frown:

BUT try to stay positive - like you say, sounds like your predicted grades were really strong and that being poorly threw you off course. You'd be surprised how many students take an extra year or so to get to the university the want to be at - particularly where entry requirements are high. Great to hear that you are going to keep trying - we're absolutely rooting for you

Is clearing closed now for Loughborough? Website says you are but you're still on UCAS and mysteriously the course I wanted to apply to through clearing is showing back up.

Hi retsymuw,

Clearing is now closed for Loughborough.

I have just had a look, and I can't find any courses coming up on the Clearing website. You may be looking at the undergraduate prospectus.

Sorry if there was any confusion. I was talking about the UCAS website. https://digital.ucas.com/search/results?filters=Destination_Undergraduate&SearchText=loughborough. Still displaying clearing options.

Hi retsymuw,

UCAS often takes longer to update than the university websites do.

Unfortunately, all of the Clearing vacancies have been filled.
