im not too sure what degree to do..

Hello, I am torn between doing archeology + history or french + history at university. I got an A in history AS but a C in french AS. as I am quite a shy person i am not too sure if french at uni will be best for me but im wondering what everyone else thinks - is it mainly about the speaking or is it more based on the history/reading (which is the part of french i love). Also if i was to do archeology and history would it be best to pick up an EPQ or do an extra AS in geology?
My head is spinning with all these thoughts so if anyone has any advice i'd love to hear it

The only thing I can help you with is that you could combine 2 of these subjects at the University of Liverpool as they have a very flexible system and a strong Archaeology department (2nd best in the UK). If you got a C at AS I'm sadly not sure that French at university would be best for you. There is no need to do an AS in Geology, but an EPQ could be useful. If you have any questions, I'm in the Archaeology and Languages departments at Liverpool so can help you.

It really depends on what you are interested in. History is very different to Archaeology. Archaeology involves studying the material culture of other civilisations. So, there is going to be more fieldwork based assignments. History, on the other hand, is more theoretical. In History, you don't really have fieldwork and it mainly involves you writing assignments that analyse historian debates on an issue or analysing historical events.

As you got a C in French, you might struggle studying it at degree level. Also, as you got an A in History, you can get into a decent university for History or Archaeology.

In the end, you should go for what you are interested in. If you are genuinely interested in French, then you shouldn't let your grades stop you from pursuing it.
