Thanks for your message.

For the ODP literacy assessment you will be required to read an article printed in a newspaper about a mother and son. You'll need to show that you can write clearly, structure your writing correctly with sentences and paragraphs, spelling, punctuation etc, but also that you can explain your points.

You'll be required to answer a number of questions - the first is about identifying the feelings of the mother in the article. We'll be looking for your ability to pick out the key points here.

The second question is about how the mothers feelings make you feel. This is where we'll be looking for you to show empathy - it's about your ability to 'share' the feelings of another, i.e how does the situation in the article make you feel, given all the information provided.
