'What is the function of stem cells in bone marrow'-GCSE COMBINED SCIENCE

I would reply by saying 'The function of stem cells being in bone marrow is because bone marrow generate millions of blood cells and once the stem cells are developed they are developed they go into the bloodstream'

Is this right?
If not can you tell me why?
