Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Oxford, Birmingham and Southampton

Hi, I'm only just going into P-16 but I have a pretty good idea of what I want to study at uni. I'm considering taking Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Oxford, Birmingham and Southampton universities (Oxford's my preferred but we'll see if I can get in). I was just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of an insight as to what these subjects would be like to study at uni? Even if you're doing Classics or another related degree I'd like to hear about it.

I do Egyptology, not sure if I would be of any use?

Yes, actually. With Egyptology do you look at a mixture of literature and material evidence or more of one but not the other? Also, do you look at trade links between Egypt and other civilisations? Sorry to bombard you.

So I have done a mixture of modules, including Material Culture and Archaeology, as well as a Literature module. If you do a pure Egyptology degree you will do an equal amount of all of these, whilst you get more choice with Joint or Combined Honours. I haven't done many Foreign Relations modules, but they are on offer.

Don't worry about asking anything - fire away! I am more than happy to help.
