Hi all,
I have recently been told about a role of an "implementation manager" at a huge company. It is a retail firm that wants to launch it's own deliveries. The role sounds interesting, but I am a bit unsure about how my career would grow from this sort of role after the project has been launched. I was told it can lead to "other project management" roles, but has anyone ever gone into a role like this? What future pathways can I take? Could I go into say sales or other business management/consultancy type roles? Could it (looking very far into the future here), put me on the pathway to be a CEO?Many thanks in advance all!

It's a specialisation with in the general realm of Project and Programme management. It could lead to all sorts of roles depending on what you'd done before, what projects you'd managed, etc. it's unlikely you'd go into sales after PM, they are very different skill sets, but you could go into general management, which is where CEOs usually come from.

fancy name for project manager - pretty good role if you want to stay in the management/projects/business functions realm. sales.. requires a totally different skillset that you may or may not be a fit for regardless of prior experience.
