Career options

So I study English Literature, History and Religious Studies but have no interest in becoming a teacher. I was wondering what career journeys are relevant with these subjects I take

If you study any of these at university, you can apply to a wide range of graduate schemes e.g. HR, accountancy, retail, finance and banking, or you could look into further study e.g. law or academia. It depends on your interests really!

To give a few examples:
- graduates I know in these subjects have gone onto tax and accountancy graduate schemes, charity sector, publishing, teaching, civil service, law, marketing, etc.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I'd take an interesting look at Law.
I also take English Lit and History! I'm planning on studying History at university and going down a lecturing route or a conservation route. There are other options such as the Law conversion course which is only another year on top of your degree, there are also fast tracks into government employment such as the diplomatic service.
I have attached a link to the Law conversion course if it interests you; https://www.prospects.ac.uk/jobs-and-work-experience/job-sectors/law-sector/law-conversion-courses
All the best

Thank you so much! Very helpful indeed. I will take an in-depth look and see what interests me!
@National Careers Service please can you help?
Hi @axxsh

It's great that you are looking into your career options from your qualifications! Just to clarify which level are you studying these at?

If its at degree level the prospects website has a very useful resource called "What can I do with my degree?" which you can scroll through to select your degree specialism and then look at a list of careers either directly related to your degree or careers where your degree would be very useful. I've included the link to this below:

https://www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-advice/what-can-i-do-with-my-degree

From here you can find out more about each career, such as the entry route, salary, progression pathways and employers, by searching for the job profile on the National Careers Service job profiles page. The great thing about this is that every page has a link where you can go into a webchat with a careers adviser to discuss things and come up with a plan that suits you.

https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/job-profiles/home

I hope this helps as a starting point but if you are not studying those subjects at degree level fell free to get back in touch and I will offer you a little more specific information.

You could also call the Exam Results Helpline for mare advice on 0800 100 900.

Good luck!
Rosy
