I have applied for multiple apprenticeships but I'm unlikely to hear back untill school term begins. I am currently going in to year 13 but I do not want to continue, can I not go back and wait to hear from my apprenticeship then start that ?

In the unfortunate event that you are unsuccessful with the apprenticeships, you're still required to be in education or training, so I think not going back may be burning bridges a bit early. If you hear back from them before hand, then by all means go for them, but if you don't, then I'd suggest still turning up to college, or at least discussing it with your college to see what they would suggest and if they could put something in place so they are there to support you in the meantime.

What sort of apprenticeships have you applied to?
I have applied to several car mechanical and technician aoprentiships that were all advertised through PROVQ and I will have my preliminary interview next week which will determine whether the put my application on to the actual company.
I'd remain in education, but keep the sixth form posted on your progress.
I know a couple of people who left as soon as they got an interview, and then didn't get it, and are now working dumb jobs for a while until something good comes along.

Can i get in trouble for not being in anything as I'm applying for and looking for placements?
A student in my form tutor was in the same position as you last year. He had to attend sixth form until his apprenticeship took him on. Ask your head of sixth form, they should be checking their email around now as they’ll be dealing with this sort of predicament

My head of sixth form left before the end of term and I don't know who replaced them

Go into your school this Thursday during GCSE results day. Your head of sixth form or deputy will almost certainly be there assisting the Year 11’s on their A Level choices. Explain your situation and they should help you out.
