Hello I’m training to be a Maths Teacher alongside doing my degree and want to make sure I’m up to scratch on the new A-Leveks as I say the old ones. It’s fairly straight forward for the regular A Level but I’m a bit puzzled with the books for the Further course as Execel offer a textbook for the book for Further Core/Pure, this are the green books with the butterflies while they also offer books specifically for FP1, FP2

To summarise, the content from the old spec FP1/FP2 (and 3), i.e the mandatory Further Pure units have been moved to CP1, CP2, (Core Pure 1 and Core Pure 2), these are the mandatory units for Further Maths A Level, FP1/FP2 on the NEW spec is NOT the same as old spec FP1/FP2, this is just extra, optional pure which is one of the units pupils can take, alternatively they have FM1/FM2 (Further Mechanics 1/2, which is kind of like M2/M3), FS1/FS2 (Further Stats 1 and 2, kind of like S2-S4) and Decision 1 and 2. The must have books are the Core Pure 1 and Core Pure 2 books, the remaining books are optional as those are dependant on what school/pupil picks as the optional units.

You've got the core pure 1 and core pure 2 books.

For AS you sit the core pure 1 exam, which is tested by all things from the core pure 1 book, and also an option paper which will consist of the AS CONTENT from the option books.

Meaning for AS you sit the core pure 1, and an options exam paper, which is made up either a single module, but from both the 1st and 2nd book, or a double module of each from the 1st books.

For example, you can sit Core Pure and Further Mechanics, but for AS this would be the Core Pure paper + option paper: further mech 1 and further mech 2, and only the AS content from the books.

Alternatively you can also do more than one 1 option, so you sit Core Pure and option paper: Further Stats 1 and Further Stats 2 only the AS content from the books.

For Alevel however you have to sit Core pure 1, core pure 2 (not sure since this hasnt been sat yet) and also the ENTIRE A-level content from the option books.

so Core Pure 1 books (AS And A-level):
