Hi - I took my GCSE’s in 2015 and I got a B in combined science (foundation) - I read somewhere that combined science is worth 2 GCSE’s if graded A*-C...not sure if that’s correct, and if that has changed recently or was the same in 2015? - please help, google is rubbish!

Combined science has been worth 2 GCSEs for a long time.

Do you have your exam certificates?

Yes I do - I looked up the course code and it said I did ‘AQA Level1/Level 2 GCSE in Science A
any idea what this means! I can’t seem to remember how many exams I did for it

How many exams you did doesn't matter too much.

Is there a particular reason you need to know?

That's not combined Science, it's just Science. For the past few years a double Science GCSE has only been available with CCEA and as an IGCSE with Edexcel. If you did 'Combined Science' at school then your AQA qualifications ought to be Science and Additional Science with 2 separate, single grades.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure if it was as I don’t remember taking a lot of exams for it.

I want to resit some GCSEs as I want to do A-Levels next year to go into uni. I’m 19 so I’m quite a bit older than most but I guess it’s better late than never...wish I’d kept my head down at school!

Ah right.

Do you have a further education college close to you? Could you go and talk to them about your options?

Have you heard of access courses?
