the accomodation one that's about a mile and a half away has parking but there's a free shuttle tot he main campus (forgotten the name of the accomodation)

all others have none, and students on these halls arn't allowed cars in uni.

Kingswood, apparently it's not the nicest of all the accommodation and you have to buy tickets for the bus which aren't all that frequent, if they turn up.

Not really.

Kingswood is not that bad, and the campus - Kingswood bus is free for KW residents and is fairly regular. You have to buy tickets to get the bus to and from the station.

Students at Kingswood are allowed cars, as long as they have a parking permit for KW, but cannot park on campus. Same for those in Penrose.
Students living more than three miles from campus are allowed to apply for a parking permit, so that they can park on campus during their lectures.
Students living on campus are not allowed cars. Your car will most likely be clamped if you have no parking permit.
There are limited parking spaces around the university, and many local residences get annoyed about students parking near their houses, even though everyone obviously pays the same amount of road tax and stuff!
Hey, if I'm not living at RHUL where would you advise me to park my car?

If you live more than a few miles away you can get a permit to park on campus.

i jus wanted to ask how much is the permit for the year..?? because i emailed royal holloway to ask them and they sent me a link but on that link it didn't have the price of the permit, or is it jus that if you live more than 1.5 miles away frm the campus you qualify for the permit and get it for free as long as you show them the documents asked for..? Yes. I got a permit for my second year. You'll be told during freshers week where they are handing the permits out. For freshers week they tend to be allocated a certain room where you que up with your documents and fill out this form, then they do some typing on a computer and check your documents. They immediately hand you a sticker to put on your car windscreen, which serves as your permit.

Yep it's free, but i'm not sure about the 1.5 miles. I think they were planning on increasing that a few more miles due to congestion in the car parks. If you don't get in early, like pre 10.00am, you will struggle to find a space. There is another student car park off campus (just across the road) and not a lot of people go there cos it takes a bit longer to walk to. But if you don't mind walking there you'll probably find a space. Oh, and If you get clamped its £20 to remove.

Hey,

I want to stay at one of the "Williamson, Tuke & Butler Halls" but they don't have parking on-site. I was wondering is there any chance of off-street parking? Just permit-free and not too far away from these halls. I just passed and I want to buy a car, but I go off to uni in September so it might be pointless.

Any help is appreciated
Students living in Kingswood are allowed to park their cars in the carpark at Kingswood but they aren't allowed to park on campus... so most of them tend to park in streets near the university (Harvest Rd, South Rd, Simons Walk)..even though it isn't really allowed either because the residents dislike students parking down their road. Some temporarily remove their permits to park down these roads though and get away with it. Don't park on campus though because you will get clamped...

Why on earth don't they just leave their cars at KW? It's only a 10-15 minute walk to campus
Well when it gets dark at night it's a bit risky and dangerous for a girl to walk back to kingswood alone and the non-res bus charges £1 to get back to kw!
