Today is GCSE result day. I’m so pleased with my results, but went on a downer when my school told me they’re not doing Geography as an A-Level due to “lack of staff” 😒 Anyways it was English or biology, I don’t find English interesting so I chose biology but I’m scared it’s gonna be hard... I need advice. I didn’t do triple science... Should I just do biology and see how it goes?

They are both pretty heavy subjects. English is by no means an easier route but if you’re not interested in it you might find very boring. Only a couple of times did not taking triple science become an issue for people in my class but they all did just as well as everyone else in the end. Parts of it can be complicated but I think you’ve made the right decision between the two

I did Triple Science and it didn't really help me much when I did A-Level Biology.

Bio is very content heavy though.

English is easier because there's less you have to learn but biology is more useful in later life and you'll be able to clone a plant and know what islet of langerhaans is

Thank you! This made me feel better as everyone was telling me how good and useful English would be, but I need to do something I enjoy🙂

That’s great 😁 I personally love English but can see how somebody who doesn’t could lose interest in it and you wouldn’t want your grades to suffer because of it

It is hard yes but if you put in the effort and stay on top of the work you will be fine.

I didn't take triple science either at GCSE but went on to study bio at a level and got a B. Biology would be a better replacement for geography than English as geography can be classed as a science/earth science and depending on whether and/or what you go on to study at uni it might be more useful.

Very true, my teacher agreed there’s some similarities with geography and biology.
I didn’t think I wanted to do science in the future, seeing my gcse results made me more optimistic but I’m still unsure!
How was biology for you as an A-Level? x
