Statistics (Percentiles)

When answering a question about calculating the median from a table, the value n was 55. So n/2 gave me 27.5. I then rounded this up to 28 and used interpolation to find the 28th value/the median.

When finding the 33rd percentile in the next question I did the following: (33/100)*(55+1) which gave me 18.48. However in the mark scheme this was not rounded down. I'm confused as to why this is.

Thanks

Sometimes it depends on the context of a question, like you wouldn’t round down radiation levels etc. Have you checked that? I will do that maths soon but I’m walking to shops rn so can’t really think
