GCSE Edexcel Art Grades

I had a look for a post about this but didn't see one, so wondered if anyone had the same confusion.

Has anyone had a weird looking mark for art? Everyone I've spoken to from my class got about 1 grade lower than their predicted.
I was predicted an 8 in Art and got my raw marks a few months ago - both out of 72 (I got 65/72 for coursework and 63/72 for exam). That was apparently the highest in the year for art (don't know how lol). Surely that would make the overall total 144? My teacher said these marks may increase slightly.

But on the Edexcel grade boundaries this morning, I saw that the total for the 'Art, Craft & Design' GCSE was 180 marks, not 144.

For my final result I got 131 marks (meaning my initial mark had gone up by 3), so a 7.
So if I got 131/144 (90%), what about the other 36 marks to make 180 total?
Lots of my friends were predicted 8/9 but got 6/7 too.

Have any of you found the same thing?

Thanks

Same!! Throughout the year I've been given mostly 9s and some 8s but I came out with a 7, don't get me wrong I'm happy with a 7 but I'm just annoyed at being mislead about it :K:

I get you, 7 is good but still annoying if you were hoping for an 8 or 9!

Aren’t the exam and course work each out of 96
I got 83 I think I’m both got a 9

I found a section in the Pearson booklet which states that Pearson are supposed to multiply your raw component 1 mark by a scale of 1.5 to make 60%.

For example, my raw grade for component 1 (portfolio) was 65/72, which should've been multiplied by 1.5 to be 97/108, then added to my raw mark for the 40% (the exam). My total should therefore be around 160.

Has anyone else got their raw mark total as the mark on their results sheet too. For the total to be 'correct' (if I'm right about this) your marks should be (1.5 x portfolio raw grade) + raw exam grade (as far as I'm aware!)

I'd be interested to know if anyone's had the same of if it's just my school!

I've looked into it a bit more and found a section in the Pearson booklet which seems to explain it.

Ah good, I wanted to make sure it was there for people to know but didn't want to mislead people if it was wrong! Thank you

I think that's for AQA? For Edexcel they're both out of 72 but the coursework mark should be multiplied by 1.5 to be out of 108. Wow well done, that's a fantastic mark!!

It's the same for us but are the grade boundaries out? If so, what would be a 7 or 8 or 9?
