How to reapply UCAS

I didn't get the place I wanted, thus unfortunately am taking the year out.
If I reapply for next year, do I need to alter my Personal statement? Obtain a new reference? (From the same referee)
Do I HAVE to write what I've done in the meantime? As all I've done so far is do my a levels. Must I write my plans for next year?

Most unis will want to hear about your plans for the next year, and your PS should reflect how you've grown/changed over the last year. If you're serious about this course, you should have done some super-curricular things over the past year, even if it's just more reading.

You will also need your referee to at least submit their reference again. Again, as you have grown and changed, hopefully their reference should reflect this at least a bit.
