Court files

Hi guys

Does anyone know if you can read court files online.. Im starting llb law next month and thought it might be interesting to read some court cases online. I searched luton crown court and it comes up with case numbers but doesn’t let me read anything on there other than a step by step “witness 1” “trial adjourned” etc etc no actual detailing.

Thanks 😀
No, Crown Court "judgments" do not have as much detail as the judgments of other senior courts. Best you're gonna get is a closing remark given by a judge, which will restate the facts as established and usually give a little reprimand. https://www.judiciary.uk/court/crown-court/

You should also appreciate that an LLB will mostly be about non-criminal law. If you want detailed judgments of "courts", there is no reason this should be limited to the Crown Court. Prepare yourself for contract, tort, equity, land, EU, constitutional law.

If you wanna look at important criminal cases, Bailii has a list of the most significant ones: http://www.bailii.org/openlaw/crime.html. These coming from the High Court and Court of Appeal mainly, and all quite old.
Thank you that’s great, yes I’ve had a look at all the core areas I will be learning, just criminal law is more what I’m looking forward to if I’m honest.
Thank you for your help
