Poor A-Level Grades - Successful 4 years later

Don’t really know if this is the right place but given that results day happened recently I thought I’d post my experience.

So many of you did really really well, well done!! There are some I’ve seen that didn’t do as good as they expected, I fell into this category.

In my AS year I got straight high Bs in Bio, Chem and Psych so I was predicted AAA for A2 resulting in me applying to Birmingham for Microbiology (AAA I think) and Leicester for Microbiology (AAB). Checking back it seems birmingham don’t do this course anymore 🤷*♂️

I woke up on results day, looked at track and saw Firm-Rejected
Insurance- Rejected
What a start to the day. So I go to school and get my results.
Bio-D (with a U in one of the exams)
Chem-C
Psych-C
While I understand these results aren’t terrible, when you’re expecting AAA its a bit of shock.

I THOUGHT MY LIFE WAS OVER. I scrambled around trying to get to a computer at school trying to see clearing options but they wouldn’t work so I RAN home (all very dramatic in hindsight lol). I got on the phone to Coventry Uni to apply for Biomed through clearing and I got in.

I absolutely loved my time at Coventry despite what a lot of people say here (the vast majority never even visiting the uni). The staff were amazing and the support there was unprecedented. I finished with a high 2:1 in May and a a first in my independent research project.

So fast forward to now, I spent some time in America after my exams and arrived home about 2 months ago.

Now I work in a very large medical devices company in their Microbiology laboratory.

The point is, if results day didn’t go your way, YOU WILL BE FINE. You might not do what you thought you were going to, but in the grand scheme of things as long as you get to your end goal, how you got there doesn’t matter.

Gosh that results day must’ve been stressful:gasp:
Well done on getting to the place you wanted to be in the end, I’m sure this will reassure others who didn’t get what they wanted:yep:
