Some are allowed to brag imo, if your at the top echelons of universities then by all means brag away, your entitled to it. But bragging from bristol is pathetic.

I "brag" about it when I'm with people at the same University (where it's more like a discussion and we all feel equal). I wouldn't do it with someone at a "lesser" uni because that would just be cockish.

Bragging about studying at undergraduate level is pathetic! Bristol or Oxbridge or University X undergraduates are simpletons compared to their professors!

I don't think that's entirely the point though! You compare yourself to your peers, not your elders. There's always someone better than you, after all!
Cant say that I have really at my university in general, although on nights out when there happen to be De Montfort students about it becomes noticable. People start with the chants and general UoL is far superiour to DMU stuff, but how much of that is snobbery and how much of it is banter and general drunkess talking I dont know.

Seems to be far more the case with accommodation if anything, with the people in the expensive new builds all being deemed as rich snobs, and anyone else being seen as poor and therefore somewhat inferiour

On a day to day basis I dont come across people like that, but then lets face it, Leicesters not the best uni ever, perhaps if I were at somewhere alot more prestigious it would be more noticable.

..but not compared to each other; I assume that's the basis on which they (rightly or wrongly) brag.

Yeah then thats fine, but then thats not really bragging, its just intra uni supremacy.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't walk up to someone on the street, and say "ha, I go to a better Uni than you, therefore I'm better than you." Especially not in my area :afraid:

I could hardly brag studying from home with the OU seeing as you need no qualifications to 'get in' lol.

I agree, however (to elaborate) I think there is a difference between bragging/ admitting that you achieved good grades etc and snobbery. The later seems to happen a lot on this forum which is why I post a lot less than when I joined (apprently you can't post an opinion without people being patronising.)

Er, remind me why bragging from Bristol is 'pathetic'? Is it acceptable to brag if you are an Oxbridge student, but not Bristol? Bragging in general tends to be a petty act, I concur, but students from such a high-calibre university such as Bristol can't be deemed 'pathetic' merely because they banter, can they?

Unless someone's a bit jealous of Bristol students. In which case, that's a whole new story...
