Ants in my room

After returning to uni halls of residence after the easter hols, I have found that my room now has ants in it! This has never been a problem before and I have no idea why they are there, or where they came from. And it has nothing to do with me because I moved all my stuff out of my room for the easter hols (and unloaded it back in when I returned).

The ants all usually gather in a certain spot. I have killed many of them, but new ants keep coming. Then I kill them. And then later on, new ones come again. And it never stops. I never know when the ants come though, which makes it difficult to show people about it. I have tried blocking up holes that I thought the ants might be coming through, and this has done nothing. I don't know what to do.

Not only am I confused, but I am also angry because the porters are being so damn unreliable and don't seem to be doing anything. All my friends are doing is taking the piss out of the situation as well. I feel embarassed and sad and get the impression that nobody probably wants to come into my room because of these stupid ants, which are definitely not my fault!

To prove that they're there, and stop them causing havoc in your room, fill a small bowl with low sides with sugared water; they'll follow it in and drown.

My old halls of residence were infested with the things. I only lived there 3 months until they knocked it down. Sick, sick, sick. You looked into getting ant/insect killer stuff?
Sorry can't help more.

Get ant killer powder - they walk in it, and take it back to the nest where it kills them all. It's only a temporary solution though, as if you've got that many it really needs to be dealt with professionally. Personally I'd go and play merry hell in the accommodation office, possibly sitting there until someone agreed to do something. I'd also talk very loudly about calling in environmental health.

Ants are better than the spider infestation i had in my room in halls last year...
Do what cpj1987 said, then keep the bowl as evidence to show the accomodation people about the problem.

spider infestation?

I would try some poisons that target the colony and also keep trying to get something done about it with management.

Buy an anteater.

I had beetles and flys in my room. I was stuck between sweating so bad I couldnt sleep or leaving window open and being swamed with beetles and ants and flys and a few spiders(prob due to the fact the halls were next to farm fields or something)

Buy an anteater.

You need borax and icing sugar (1:1). Mix it together. Put it near where the ants come in. They then grab the sugary goodness and take it back to their nest, thus poisoning their little ant friends!

Do a Noah and flood the room.

In my experience ants invade rooms at night so depending on the kind of person yuo are:
1)go to bed late or
2)go to bed early
and try to see where they come in. Then get ant killer and put it where they come in. Also, if you're going to be away a few days get an ant killer spray and spay it all over the floor. It's tacky so you don't want to be around for a few days, but it will kill nay ants that walk over it. After a while the chemical trails the ants lay should just dissapear and they should stop coming (I once had a room where they came through a whole in the windowsill, wlaked down the wall and onto my bed, over me and down onto the floor. Every time I rolled in my sleep, i went crunch)
