Which IGCSE is the equivalent to GCSE English Language?

Hi,

I'm taking my English Language GCSE as a private candidate in Nov.

I just called Cambridge in order to distinguish the following IGCSE's:
English - First Language - 0500
English - First Language (9-1) - 0990 New
English - First Language (9–1) (UK only) - 0627

More importantly which one is the GCSE English Language equivalent.

However they were absolutely no help to me and told me to ask my centre. My centre simply ask for qualification codes in order to get the ball rolling so I'm stuck until I can figure out which one of this is the equivalent. Grrrr.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Max

They are all English language GCSE equivalent.

It depends which one you wish to study and for that you will need to look at the specs. Seems like you have a choice.

0500 must be the old spec which grades from E to A* rather than the newer 9-1 spec which grades from 1-9 .

Unis wont care, but just in case 0500 is about to be phased out completely then go for the 9-1 imo.

You need to make sure you have studied / will study the correct syllabus.

If you are studying/ will take in the UK then take the UK one and if not then take the other.
