Lancaster say they want excellent GCSEs; what would they class as excellent GCSEs?
What have people previously applied with?

They have a points scoring system for GCSE's which you can find if you click on 'A levels' here:
http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/lms/study-with-us/undergraduate/mbchb/entry-requirements-and-selection-process/academic-entry-requirements/

Basically they score 9 GCSE's, 2 points for what used to be A-A* (now 7-9), 1 point for B (now 6) and you need to meet the cutoff of 15 points, once you hit 15 points or above it makes no difference as long as you also meet the A level/other qualification criteria, you move on to the next step (ranking by BMAT) and the previous step holds no bearing.

Statistics will probably show more people with higher points out of 18 getting more offers but that will be confoundes by the fact these are likely the more able candidates and is not a direct result of their higher GCSE scores.
