You should contact your department.
If they are official exams, you havent made other arrangement and you arent there then I would expect any university will just fail you.

I doubt they care about your cousins wedding.

As 999tigger implies, you need to fit around the university, not vice versa. If you don't attend the examinations, you will be awarded a fail. It's extremely unlikely you would be able to defer your examinations due to a social engagement.

Universities don't have mock exams as far as I know.

OK. It's probably easier to consult your programme specification than ask TSR, but often January examinations are for a 15-credit semester A module and, thus, would be official examinations.

You need to check your university regulations. However they will almost certainly be compulsory and not attending to go to a wedding will result in a mark of zero

Talk to someone at your university. However unis rarely do mock exams and if you don't attend it will be a fail.

You have to decide if your degree or a party is more important to you.

Arent the right people to talk to the university?
Why do you think exams are optional?
You may get them to let you off but I doubt it.
They will have no hesitation in failing you for non excused attendance.
That could have more serious consequences.

Its normally ok to miss a week of lectures.
Not ok to miss tutorials but you might be able to swap.

Exams is another matter and am sure they wont have any difficulties in just failing you if you dont show. Better speak to your lecturer or class rep about what sort of exams they are.
