I'm taking French, English Language, History, and Classics for A-Level. I don't think I have a good shot at getting a good grade in French and want to change it to English Literature, but I know that French looks good on applications for Linguistics degrees (which is what I would like to do). Would I still have a good chance at studying Linguistics if I did English Literature instead of French?

Yes you'd still be considered. They seemingly have no requirements in terms of grades typically, but French would probably look better. Regardless, if you think that you'd do better in English Lit then do that!

I was given an offer at Manchester to study Linguistics with English Language, Film Studies and Drama and Theatre Studies. Linguistics is more like English Language anyway unless you choose to do a foreign language and linguistics combined degree.

I do English Language, English Literature and Photography and I'm applying for linguistics so I assume that it would be fine! If you're unsure, research course specifications!
