Animation Courses at Uni

I want to go to a uni that does animation. Initially I was really set on going to Hertfordshire university since they have really great student work but I’m not sure if it’s a good uni overall in terms of how good the uni and facilities in general are and all that jazz. I cant go to an open evening atm because it’s 5 hours away so :’) . If anyone knows any good unis that do animation let me know or if anyone thinks Hertfordshire is actually really worth it please tell me. :-)

Hi Moa.tm,
I'm not sure about Herts but I thought you might be interested in hearing about Ravensbsourne. We are a specialist design and media University based in North Greenwich, London. Ravensbourne is an open space building so there is a lot of oppertunities to be collaberative between different courses but it is also just a good environment to be in. We are industry focused and our courses are taught by industry professionals. Our BA Animation course is a mixture of practice and theory-based learning. You will be able to work on live briefs set by industry as well as working on competition briefs.

If you want to see how Ravensbourne is you can come to our open day. We also have summer schools and portfolio workshops you can attend. It is also a good oppertunity to help you build your portfolio for interviews. You will have the ability also fo to portfolio and intervirew workshops during our I would recommend coming to one so you can meet students and tutors.

I hope this has helped. If you have anymore questions let me know.

Hi @moa.tm,

Sorry for the delay in replying to you! It's great to hear you're considering Herts  I can let you know a bit more about the uni and animation courses. We offer 2D Animation and Character for Digital Media, 3D Games Art and Design, Visual Effects for Film and Television and 3D Computer Animation and Modelling. Our 3D animation course was listed as one of the top five best schools for animation in the world by The CG Rookies Awards 2017. You can see examples of our students work and find out more about the facilities available to you here: https://www.herts.ac.uk/study/schools-of-study/creative-arts/undergraduate-degrees/digital-animation

94.9% of students from the School of Creative Arts go on to work or further study within 6 months of graduating. Our past graduates have won Oscars, BAFTAs and Emmys for their work on blockbusters such as Inception, The Jungle Book and Game of Thrones.

As for the University itself, we're a campus-based university meaning everything you need is right on campus including accommodation, restaurants, cafes, a nightclub, a bank, a pharmacy... We recently won gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework showing our committment to student success.

It's a shame you won't be able to come and visit us but you can take a look around our facilities here: https://www.herts.ac.uk/study/open-days/virtual-tour

There's also detailed information about Creative Arts facilities here.

Hope that helps. If you've got any questions about the course or uni, just let me know.

Thanks,
Heather
