capacitor discharge etc

Right, I'm doing a coursework and I'm calculating mean values of the time constant from voltage time discharge graphs.

Now, I used the arithmetic mean to calculate the average value of tau for each graph. What I need help with is a reason as to why I didn't use the geometric mean... they both give similar numbers but obviously the geometric mean is smaller.

HELP PLEASE. reppie will be given.

maybe something to do with the discharge having a constant 'half-discharge' time?

kinda like a radioactive half-life.

i don't follow how that is a reason to use one mean but not the other...

can you explain please.
