YouGov sample n=2509

How can socialist entryism into Labour harm the party if voters can't even name them?

Other interesting stats:

28% of people think that Labour is "generally anti-Semitic", the same as think the same of UKIP.
50% of people think that UKIP is "generally Islamophobic", and only 17% think the same of the Tories.
Both Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May have 9% of people who believe they are Islamophobic.
Both Labour and the Tories have 18-19% of people who believe they are "generally racist".
20% believe JC is "generally racist", but only 11% believe May is.

"47% of Labour voters have not heard of John McDonnell"

Pretty much confirms what I have always thought.
There are vast swathes of this country that would vote for a Pig if you put a red rosette on it. It explains their disregard for voters in safe seats. Lady Nugee posting her photograph of the white van man's home for example.
Browns "Dreadful bigoted women" comment is another.
I've no doubt pretty much the same could be said of many Tories.
Heres my thought as a Labour supporter. While there are many issues that are important to me, the most important personally to me are the NHS and social security. My experiences and position I life means I will vote for whoever indeed will make the best difference to these area. For ma that is Labour as the cons will do everything to destroy the things that matter to me.

So as above, yes it doesnt matter to much who stands for Labour. So long as they provide me with the things that are important to me, to will continue to vote for them no matter how far left they may go.
From experience there’s a lot of Labour voters that vote labour cause they’d never vote Tory
What are the stats for people being able to name the Conservative cabinet? You also have the fact it is the shadow cabinet and nobody pays much attention to them.

idk. Bear in mind that with the Tories, you don't even know if Theresa will still be leader next week.

McDonnell is, behind Corbyn, the second most prominent left-winger in Labour. So it is genuinely surprising that so many have not heard of him. Then again, perhaps I just pay more attention to them, since these people are the only reason I'd vote for Labour myself.

Far better question to ask would be how many Labour voters know the party's current policies...

There are millions of people who have never voted or voted for parties you never heard off to protest because they don't like or trust any of the main parties.

Hahahahaha...

Nobody votes for the big parties on the basis of policies. The media doesn't cover policies as eagerly as they try to manufacture controversies to sell papers. And with Brexit hanging over our heads, who really cares about other policies? I'm surprised the Tories haven't sneaked in some more internet censorship laws while the Brexit farce has everyone's focus.

I'm not suggesting that people would vote for X party because of X policy, but it would be nice to think that people were aware of what those policies were.

For instance, before the conference, how many Labour voters were unaware that their party wasn't advocating for - and didn't really want to advocate for - a people's vote on brexit?

I just think stats like these are pretty meaningless.
I dont think he's as significant as you think.
For years Labour have been unelectable and since the last election just about the only story has been brexit.

I really fail to understand why you guys want a socialist state. Almost anything, including fascism, would be better than being a socialist state!

Another far better question is how many people actually know the policies of any party they support. I would guess very little and people usually only vote for a certain party to fit into the stereotype. (Students voting for labour, rich people for Tories etc)

Because people are idiots and think that somehow a handful of people will do something to bring them happiness.

I dont care if it's socialist or not. So long as they dont try to destroy the NHS like the current government then that's what I'll go for. Same for social security for those that need it.

You are a fool if you think socialism would lead to anything other than tyranny and mass starvation. Just look at EVERY single other socialist country that has ever existed.

You misunderstand me. I don't care about socialism or capitalism or whatever buzz word you want to use next. Give the NHS what they need. Help those with benefits who properly need it. Do that and I'll vote for you. Labour are the ones that have made me think thatbthe would look after it. The current Tories certainly haven't.

NHS at all costs huh? Well ****, deluded socialists are one thing but this? Would you vote for Adolf Hitler if he wanted to fund the NHS more too? Jesus.
Considering that a 100% of them haven't heard of much, this shouldn't come as a suprise...

As someone in my family who once heavily relied on the NHS for 2 decades, you're god damn right I would.
