Are Sociopaths mentally unwell, or is that their personality?

Are sociopaths unwell with a mental illness the way someone with Depression or anxiety are unwell or is it a vital part of their personality that cannot be changed?

Does something cause it?
And can it be fixed?
Personality.
Ego, no conscience, endless wants and a lot of charm to conceal true sociopathic nature.
No fix or cure.
Treatment/counselling is directed at the victims, not the sociopath.

Not necessarily, Sociopaths are people who have Antisocial Personality Disorder, they have no remorse or compassion for other people, are very charming and view other people as pawns to get what they want. they’re very intelligent and watch how other people act to ‘Fit in’ to society and wear these masks to blend in.

It doesn’t mean that everyone who wants to kill others will be Sociopaths though I imagine Sociopath are capable of killing other people because they just don’t recognise that other people are anything other then a tool for them.

Murderers may well have other mental health problems to lead them to kill others, maybe Narcissistic Personality Disorder for example.
