Laptop A level Uni Languages/history student

HI I am looking to get a new laptop for my a levels and hopefully for uni. My current laptop has become ridiculously slow to the point where its struggling to play videos after only 4 years so I'm looking for something longer lasting. I need recommendations for a laptop that is quick, will last and has a long battery life any ideas?

Budget?
Probably about £800
I was thinking something that I could carry to school - so lightweight and would fit in a bag. Thanks so much for the help!

I'm a big fan of the Asus ZenBook line for lightweight ultrabooks. This model comes with the core specs that and I typically recommend for your usage, with a Core i5-8250U processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage and a 1080p display, in a slim and well built design.

Whatdo you need it to do? Is it for MS office + netdlix etc or do you have any specific software you need to run?

because if its just the above buy a chromebook:

I mean unless the OP has specialist software a chromebook seems more appropriate does it not?
Considering stated battery life as a key consideration it makes sense as typically they have longer battery life
