Can you do well at university with depression?

So, still depressed - but somehow got into a good university. It feels like everyone's 100000 miles ahead of me and it's only week three :/

Part of me is like 'I want to work hard and get As' - the other part of me knows I'm kidding myself. I'm struggling a lot at university - Counselling Service and Advisor knows.

University can be overwhelming but with the added depression, this can exacerbate it. Are you signed up with the Disability Service at your uni who can provide you with a Specialist Mental Health Mentor who would see you once a week to support you through your studies.
You must have worked hard to get into a good uni. Do you think you could stick it out until maybe, Christmas with the right support?
Managed to get a 2.1 in my first year whilst struggling with my mental health, which shows that it can be done.

Yeah, you can. I got a first at university whilst having siginificant mental health issues, including depression, and significant physical health issues.

I'd suggest looking into DSA if you haven't already. I doubt I would have graduated without the support I got from DSA/student support.
blue.stripes you can definitely do well in uni with mental illness! Sure you may need to work harder to motivate yourself and all that but it will be so worth it in the end, and so what if people are ahead of you? You are your main priority and you can go at whatever speed is suitable for you, no pressure from anyone else!
I have depression and I’m doing Music at Uni. It’s hard as Performing Arts are so cut throat and competitive. Many times I have doubted myself if I’m even good enough. However, work hard and be yourself and you will be surprised. I got a 1:1 in my first year, struggling with anxiety, insomnia and dealing with family issues. Do what you think is right.
