Hi, I am a fresher at a target school. For my course, I can choose to do either 2 half unit quantitative modules which seem to be quite easy to achieve high grades or 2 full modules on math and stats which I heard are quite a difficult. The half modules will focus more on mathematical and statistical application in Econ and Business area while the full unit modules have more theoretical content.
I haven’t got a clear mind about which specific division suits me most now, I’m generally interested in IBD, asset management, research, risk management (except quant risk) and maybe also strategy/management consulting. I wonder how quant will these roles normally ask for?
Overall, Is it worth taking some risks to choose the hard quant modules? Or will the half modules be enough? I am also wondering will the recruiters actually care what modules you choose in the uni?
do what you want. it literally means jack for the gigs you're aiming for.
