Difference between aliphatic and alicyclic compounds
My textbook says an aliphatic compound is when carbon atoms are joined in chains or non aromatic rings and that an alicyclic compound has carbon atoms in a ring.
So if there was a hydrocarbon in which the carbons were joined in a non aromatic ring would it be both an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon or is there a difference between an aliphatic ring and a alicyclic ring?
