I failed my a levels. I don't want to work for years to pay to enroll again when I feel the classes could be working against me succeeding.

What would I need to do to enter exams as an external candidate in terms of cost, forms to fill out etc and how would fulfilling coursework requirements work?

1. work out what went wrong and whether you want to resit or do something like an access course.
2. As you have chosen A levels then you can either find a correspondence course c £400 just for course materials or teach yourself.
3. If you are sissified you can teach yourself then find a private exam centre to book to sit at the scheduled time.
4. pay them the fees and then go and sit the exam on the appropriate day. they wnat the money and they do the paperwork.
5. Cost of a test centre for an A level varies, but the exam part costs c £80-100 and then the fee to use their facilities can be c £200-300. Someone said they were charged only £120, but im just going on the fees ive seen. Get quotes. This is for exam only subjects.
6. If there is coursework then it becomes problematic and you need to check with your exam board if you can carry forward a previous credit or someone will mark it for additional money.
7. languages are also problematic as they have orals and sciences are the big ones with very expensive practical fees.

This aqa link gives you some guidance on being a private candidate.
