New tattoo...

:s-smilie: So I got a tattoo on thursday-will attach a picture. I have been washing it three times a day then applying the bepanthen cream.

Although I don't know how long to carry on applying the bepanthen and switch to moisturiser?

Also, the tattooist said I should have light scabbing after 3 days, however it is now monday and no scabbing? Just tiny bits of ink (rather like what you get when you rub out pencil?) coming off when i wash it.

The colour is fine (black/gray) and it isn't hurting, a bit itchy yesterday.

Bit long winded sorry but obviously this is for life as i am well aware, and want to make sure I care for it properly as having it done it doesn't stop there.

I'd appretiate any advice from anyone, thank you for the time to read this ramble!

and carry on washing it three times a day as well? or cut down to two times? The tattooist has done an excellent job and i know a few people who have had no scabbing/problems from him but he didnt mention alot regarding aftercare.

Thank you for your response!
I remember mine doing that (leaking little black bits) - I always got the impression that it was because the scabs can't form properly when you're moisturising it all the time (you know, in the same way that regular scabs go kind of soggy if you soak them in water). So it could be that. Neither of my tattoos ever "scabbed over" in the way I was expecting - they just had a light covering for a few weeks.

*shrugs*

Either way, the same thing happened both times and both tattoos turned out fine. I didn't use bepanthen; I actually used E45 and Preparation H (hahaha :p:) and IIRC I used it right up until the pseudo-scabs went away. I suspect there are more orthodox after-care methods, but this is what I was advised to do and it worked fine.
Stop putting the cream on. Just let it dry up, hun.

Same fing happened to me. It wont scab up if you keep putting cream/moisturiser/water on it.

I think i'm just nervy because its my first tattoo and the scab i was expecting hasnt formed lmao-even though it is probably a good sign and the colour will remain solid?

3 different things!!! haha I'd be in a complete muddle lmao  Nappy rash 3 times a day I can deal with haha/ :p:
But yeah, I was wondering if I could use doublebase cream (I have it for my ecsma (had it for years still can't spell it) on it to keep the skin supple and colour vibrant? But dont want it to react but on the other hand there is a VERY low chance i will due to the fact its designed for poeple with sesitive skin?

I've been told its a good thing if it doesnt scab up? Its obviously healing because its itching? :s-smilie:

but it wasn't really in the right place in general discussion...else it wouldn't have been moved. This is where people tend to go for help on piercings and tattoos it's a general bod mod thread

No, only two things (IIRC = "If I remember correctly") - Prep H for the first tattoo, and E45 for the second one.

As for changing creams - I personally reckon you'd be best off sticking with what you know, as long as it's not doing you any harm. The only reason I changed creams was that I borrowed Preparation H for my first tattoo but couldn't the second time... and I didn't fancy going into a chemist and asking for haemorrhoid cream. So when a couple of other people suggested E45, I went for that instead.

It's beautiful
I genuinely really like it,
something you never see on anyone else.
May I ask why you chose it?

I thought it was a shell at first then I saw like the leopard/cheetah face..at least I hope that's what I saw. It's cooool.
I agree, its really lovely!

I got a tattoo on Friday, but its already scabbed up pretty nicely because I've pretty much left it to dry out - only applying savlon every so often.

When you've put on cream, how much have you been putting on? Your only supposed to put on a very light layer otherwise it wont dry out enough to crisp up and scab.

Don't panic if it doesnt 'scab' up much. I mean mine has technically 'scabbed' but it is only very light.
