Hi all,

I just thought I'd start a thread for Foundation Year 2019 applicants. I see 2018 has one, but I can't seem to find a 2019 one.

I'm going to be applying over the next couple weeks (I want to make sure my Personal Statement is the best I can do.

I'm a Mature Student (aged 29, currently) and I'm applying with no formal qualifications. I have worked in Accounting the last couple years. Regarding Maths/Physics experience, I have taught myself, from Pearson's Foundation Maths and just generally reading Physics textbooks.

Would be cool to hear from anyone else who is applying as will probably have a lot to talk about over the next few months.

Cheers

Hi - sorry you haven't had a response to this yet. I'm just going to bump the thread in the hope that someone sees this and can help

Why do I do this?

The Universities forums get a lot of questions that are unanswered. This is often because the OP's thread got missed - bumping threads gives them another lease of life and frequently results in someone seeing it and being able to respond

If you would like to help with unanswered questions check out the first part of the list here and don't forget the second part of the list here.

Or if you have questions, get in touch with Puddles the Monkey.

I'll be applying for Computer Science, mate.

I'm 24 and work in accounting too...obviously you find it just as boring as I do!
Got my reference sorted so now need to get on with my personal statement.

I am a current Durham Foundation student. I have taken a concession in 2018 and will be restarting in 2019, if anyone has any questions about anything to do with the application process or how things are run during the course feel free to ask

Last year they started in January, interview days were February and March.

Don't be nervous, they are a pretty awesome bunch tbh. They want to get a feel for who you are and why you are there. Just be honest and let them see the real you and it will be fine.

We had a couple reading for that this year. You don't cover much, if any Japanese studies your first year. Foundation year is more about the groundwork for good practice once you start your degree.
