What does sec x equal and what does cos x equal?
Use them and the 1 on the left to help you

secx=1/cosx
But, I’m just not really sure how I get from the first line to the second line... but the rest I can derivative easily
1-cosx+secx-cosxsecx
secx-cosx
1/cosx- cosxcosx/cosx
1-cosxcosx/cosx
1-cos^2x/ cosx
sin^2x / cosx
sinx/cosx. sinx/1
tanxsinx

Look at the last term. It's cosxsecx\cos x \sec x. Which means it's cosx1cosx\cos x \cdot \dfrac{1}{\cos x}. Hence this is 1.

This 1 cancels with the 1 at the beginning on the expression.

Hence you end up with the second line.
