Students to face more disruption as UK university staff back action over pay

Students in universities across the UK could face more strike action by their lecturers if a row over pay is not resolved.

More than two thirds (69%) have backed further strike action.
7 universities in England and Scotland and 3 universities in Northern Ireland could face disruption following the vote.

The Facts:

They were offered a 2% pay increase. which they rejected.

In February and March, uni staff staged a 14 days walk out about this issue.

1,000s of students are trying to claim compensation for lost teaching time.

The universities that could be affected:

Courtauld Institute of Art

Heriot-Watt University

University of Huddersfield

Leeds Arts University

University of Nottingham

University of Sheffield

Brighton University

Queens University Belfast

St Mary’s University College

Ulster University

What do you think? Is striking the answer? Will you stand behind your university staff? Or do you think that striking is unfair?

In February and March universities were on strike about significant changes to pensions. This strike ballot is about fair and equal pay so your second fact is incorrect.

Also I think there would be more universities that would be on this list if it wasn’t for the unfair Tory legislation that means any ballot must have at least 50% turnout to be valid.
