Do ions of an element react differently to the atoms?

I know that different isotopes of an element will react in the same way because they have the same number of electrons, but will ions of an element react differently to the atoms of this same element given that the number of electrons are different?

Ions are completely different species, they have totally different reactions and reactivity.
