I want to give the valedictorian speech

I know in the UK it doesn't happen but is there any way i could during my graduation next year? i got to a top russel group uni and achieved a first in 1st and 2nd year.

does it happen in unis like imperial, ucl / lse?

No i mean how do you get chosen to do it in the UK at your uni? its not common here but in the states it is

yeah i know but i got 84% in year 2 and 81% in year 1.

Congrats on your grade, that’s a good achievement, but *thats* the achievement. I’m pretty sure universities here don’t have students give out speeches at graduation, and if they did, it’s up to them who’d theyd pick, not who asks.

It's not really a thing here. Thank goodness.

How do you know those are the highest grades across the entire university? And it would depend on your final grades anyway.

yes i know i mentioned that in my original post.

because i got a prize at the end of each year saying i was a top student in my entire year. theres only 3 and i was 1st.

would i have to ask somebody?

*If* it was a thing at your university they would invite *you*. You don't nominate yourself...

I've known of it - a student just speaks on behalf of all the students. What's wrong with thanking the tutors :smile:

And you can humblebrag to your heart's content on YT :yy:
My university - Cass Business School - had a speech from a student. But you had to apply to do it stating what you would talk about and why students/parents would enjoy this.

Not many do it. MMU does. Where else?
