New to London

Hey guys! I just moved to London for university and I've been here for a month but I haven't made any friends yet. I've tried talking to everyone I met but nothing has happened in terms of establishing a friendship but I'm also pretty shy and not good at holding conversations because I'm pretty insecure about myself. Any advice? Or is anyone else feeling the same way?
I've been in London my whole life and still can't make friends, join the club bud

Since you're from India i'm going to assume you can't drink. In that case just offer to be the designated driver for some people. then they'll love to go to clubs with you

Oh nah, I drink  But most people here don't so thats out of the equation. Are you a student too?
Join societies that you’re interested in. Also, the university of London (which is all the unis that are in London) have societies across unis, so you can meet more people.

I'm doing a foundation course right now and I'll join the University of Westminster next year and i'll be moving to new student halls. Should I just be alone until June and start fresh when I start my undergraduate course?

Since you’re are student at a London university (regardless if you’re in foundation year or not) you can still join societies. Start looking at some that you might enjoy, and branch out.

When you do start your undergrad course, make sure you go to freshers fair. There’s lots of societies and it’s a great place to meet new people.

In the meantime, join societies now, and figure out what your passions are. When you do, you’ll meet people who will share your interests, and you’ll most likely make friends. I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear that you're struggling to make friends at university in London. One thing that I would definitely recommend and that has already been suggested by @yellowduckyyy is to join some societies. They are such a great way to meet people that are interested in similar things as you. You'll meet up regularly too which will help to develop your relationships.

London is a busy place, which means that there are lots of different opportunities to join clubs, go to free events and socialise. Have a look on eventbrite for free events around you in London. You're guaranteed to find hundreds and I'm sure something will take your fancy. It's good to explore things outside of university as well as taking advantage of the services within.

I'm sure you'll settle in soon and make some great friends. If there is anything else I can help with then let me know. I personally studied in London myself and now work for London Met which is very central so hopefully I'll be able to help

Have a great day.

Hannah
You could join parkrun. They are organised 5k runs every Saturday at 9am. If you don’t run, you can volunteer. I’m not sure where the nearest one to you would be, but check out the parkrun website. They (runners and volunteers) normally meet for coffee etc afterwards.
