What??? With CCC grades. A number of unis, even some of the top unis (depending on the degree).

Surely you should be looking at which degree to do, and which uni to go to, based on personal goals and things. Not on trying to fit a uni or degree to your grades.

I can (possibly) give you three top ten unis who'll accept you on CCC, whether you'll actually like the course, or it will benefit your career, is another matter.

Birmingham City Uni I think? What the poster probably means was ex-polys and some new unis. However, I can think of some courses there that you won't get on and some course at top unis that you still may be able to go on.

This is not a way of choosing your uni or degree.

to be honest, I had NO idea that you coud get into top unis with CCC at all. I thought top unis always go for top grades which is why they are top unis.oh well...

OK, I can't at the moment. Durham are well known as being one of the elite unis with amongst the highest entry requirements. "Crap" subjects such as sports studies or sociology were around the BCC mark I'm sure. Now they are BBB and ABB.

Virtually all other courses are AAA-ABB.

Have a look around, there'll still be some Russell Group/Red Brick unis that may offer courses with entry requirements of CCC. IF not then ex-polys. Whether such degrees are worth it is another matter.

But, with the greatest respects, if you don't actually have firm plans (want to study a subject as it will help you in your career, or because you have a passion for it) then don't. It seems as though you just want a degree for the sake of it. It isn't worth it.

By all means though, have a look around.
How dare you put sports studies with Sociology ¬.¬, Also there userly BBB. Kent maybe do  Thats a pritty goodish uni!

BCU is Birmingham City University. I was aiming for CCC and those are some of the Unis that I applied for, I didn't want to take the risk of aiming for top unis who would just reject me.

Because their etry requiremets were similar, with sociology's only just a little higher than sports studies.

I'll repeat, there'll be some Russell Group unis that offer courses where you may only need BCC-CCC. Even if it's just four courses amongst all of them. Whether these courses are worth doing is another matter.

The Russell Group unis include Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow and Nottingam. The solid unis in other words.

Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Bristol, Warwick, LSE, UCL and Imperial are also Russell Group unis but I doubt you'd get in there with CCC. Durham and St Andrews aren't in the Russell group, but are still considered part of the elite. You won't get in those two with CCC either, I don't think.

There may be a course or two at York.

Apart from those then maybe half of courses at ex-polys and new unis. Probably all courses at places such as Edge Hill and blummin Thames Valley.

Thanks for the advice...but to be honest. Im not looking for a degree to go for based on my grades. Im just curious about WHICH unis WOULD let you in with CCC.
And, to my amazement..it seems that even top unis allow you in. <<yes, I was amazed.

but really, thanks for the advice...
Durham - i did and not for a "crap subject" like sociology or sports science!!

Well, I go back on what I said about the top 10. There were two elite unis who offered courses with requirements of BCC-CCC.

There'll be about a handful of courses at Russel group unis that you can get on. Even if it's just foundation courses like this one at Newcastle for Computer Science: -

You don't need formal educational requirements. Although that doesn't mean you'll necessarily get in (even if you have AAAA).

Otherwise then the ex-polys, heck, I've even seen an engineering course at Sheffield Hallam that only stipulates CC. For something as respected and rigourous as engineering?!?! That's just taking the pee.

What subject then? It's a top uni and I'd be suprised if you still can.

It was a great effort trying to get into philosopy with BBB (I was predicted AAB :frown: )

Also, I wasn't calling sociology and sports studies, in themselves, crap subjects. But nevermind.

I didn't get in with two A levels, I got in with three, into Durham.

The two A-level requirement was at Sheffield Hallam, it's an ex-poly. Entry requirements at ex-polys tend not to be as high. Even at fairly respectable ex-polys like Northumbria, what may be AAA in a top ten uni, they'll ask for ABB.

It's about demand, little demand/compeition, lower entry requirements.

No the minimum isn't necessarily three. If you're not picky about where you go, or even if you are but have alternative qualifications and not A-levels, there's no universally set general "minimum".
